Skoda Auto continuously improves the quality of its cars. Simply Clever solutions provide an optimal price/quality ratio, which is one of the main characteristics of Škoda vehicles. The new transmission configuration for the Octavia and Superb models is a successful combination of automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system for safer driving in any situation. The all-wheel drive Superb and Superb Combi models are extremely popular; according to sales results, every 5th Combi car sold is all-wheel drive (about 10% of total sales of this model). The Superb range will therefore soon be available with a new 2.0 TDI engine combination (direct injection, particulate filter, 103 kW) and six-speed DSG automatic transmission with dual clutch for all-wheel drive. Presumably, the installation of the new engine will begin in November this year; this advantageous package will be available for both versions (hatchback and station wagon). Torque distribution is controlled using a fourth-generation Haldex clutch. Under normal conditions, 96% of the power is distributed to the front axle. If the road grip parameters change, the Haldex system reacts in a split second and transfers torque to those wheels whose grip parameters are currently better. The result is safe driving under all conditions: on snow, on ice and in rain. This all-wheel drive package will also be available for the Octavia model line. The 2.0 TDI CR DPF 103 kW diesel engine with DSG automatic transmission with all-wheel drive will be available for both the Octavia Combi and the Scout version. In total, about 14,000 Octavia all-wheel drive vehicles were sold in 2009, of which the Combi all-wheel drive version accounts for about 15% of the sales volume of this model line, that is, ten out of a thousand consumers around the world have already had the opportunity to appreciate the high quality and excellent handling characteristics of the Škoda Octavia 4x4. A car is an indispensable companion for daily trips to work, as well as a reliable travel partner. Two years ago, readers of AutoBild Allrad magazine chose the Škoda Octavia Combi 4x4 as the 2008 All Wheel Drive Vehicle of the Year. And the Octavia Scout won the “Best Crossover Estate” category according to the British 4x4 magazine. The main advantages of the fourth generation Haldex clutch are immediate response in any situation (without slipping of the front wheels), safe control thanks to the immediate redistribution of torque taking into account the parameters of wheel adhesion to the road surface, improved maneuverability, as well as compatibility with ABS and ESP systems.
